Folklore, Myths and Legends of Britain

Reader’s Digest Association Limited, 2nd edition 1977

A comprehensive look at the folklore and legends of Britain with good coverage of the places of interest. A popular book in it’s day and still highly regarded.

Note: Originally published in 1973 and with a second edition appearing in 1977, copies were available primarily through The Reader’s Digest via their mail order and were supplied without a dustwrapper. However, copies were also distributed and sold through bookshops, and these were supplied with a dustwrapper bearing the Hodder and Stoughton imprint.

Hardback. Black cloth boards with gilt design and title to front; gilt title to spine. 552pp including b/w and colour illustrations. In a Hodder and Stoughton dustwrapper priced £7.95 to lower corner of front flap; ISBN 0340165979 printed to lower margin of rear flap. Size: 11.25 x 6.75 inches approx. (287mm x 171mm).

Dustwrapper worn and chipped with some loss to extremites; very creased and worn from handling and especially so to flaps, particularly the front flap; dustwrapper now in a removable paper-backed cellophane sleeve. Cloth a little marked and dusty in places and spine showing some light creasing, however overall very clean and bright. Some creasing to front free endpaper and a pencilled name to upper margin; occasional mark or small stain but generally pages very clean throughout with only light signs of handling and being read.

Overall, light wear but otherwise a nice, clean copy in a somewhat worn dustwrapper.
