The classic children’s fantasy tale about a young Kansas girl named Dorothy and her dog Toto was originally published in 1900 by George M. Hill. A best seller, Baum wrote a further thirteen titles in the Oz series of books. In 1939 it was adapted as the film musical starring Judy Garland as Dorothy.
This edition from Folio Society was first published 2010 with an introduction by Maria Tatar and illustrations by Sara Ogilvie; this copy here being a 2011 second printing.
Hardback. Yellow cloth spine with title in metallic blue-green, illustrated papered boards with illustration in blue-green, yellow, black, and white; yellow endpapers; head and tail bands. In a slipcase with illustrated papered sides and blue-green papered ends. pp [i-iv], v-xvi, [1-2], 3-182, [183-184] including b/w and colour illustrations. Size: 10 x 7.5 inches approx. (252mm x 190mm).
Prior to photographing and inspection this copy was still sealed in publisher’s shrink-wrap.
Slipcase has a minor knock to one edge.
Overall, a nice, clean copy in unread condition – really quite lovely.
