A Day in a Shipyard
Arthur O. Cooke
London: Henry Frowde at Hodder & Stoughton, [1st edition, 1911]
A volume in ‘The World at Work’ series produced for the younger reader. Based on the author’s visit to the Harland and Wolff shipyards in Belfast whilst the ships Olympic and Titanic were under construction.
A later printing was published by Humphrey Milford at the Oxford University Press and except for title page and imprint is otherwise identical.
Hardback. Decorated paper over boards; title to spine; title and onlay plate to front board; illustrated endpapers. 87pp with b/w illustrations in the text, plus plates in b/w and colour. 7 x 4.5 inches approx. (177mm x 118mm).
Light wear and rubbing to covers, especially corner tips and spine ends; some light scratching to onlay plate; some light wear to edges of spine, mainly lower rear where some webbing shows through – holding firm however. Pages a little tanned and dusty, occasional corner crease, but generally clean thoughout; spotting and dustiness to edges of page-block.
Overall, showing some light wear but otherwise a nice copy.
