Loosely inserted is the twelve page pamphlet titled On the Writing, Illustration and Publication of Lewis Carroll’s Alice Books by Michael Hancher.

Note: The cloth bound editions of each title were available singly with a slipcase (ISBNs 0333370058 & 0333370066) or as a two book set, again with a slipcase (ISBN 0333370090). Both titles were also available in leather bound editions (ISBNs 0333370074 & 0333370082).

Hardbacks. Publisher’s red cloth with gilt title and decoration to spines; gilt rules and decoration to upper and lower boards; dark green endpapers; gilt to all edges of page-block. In a printed red and cream papered slipcase with titles to spine and front panel, ISBN to rear panel. pp [12], 192, [3] blank, [1] colophon; [12], 224, [3], [1] colophon, including b/w illustrations. Size: 7.25 x 5.25 inches approx. (188mm x 130mm).

Slipcase a little shelf worn with bumps to corners and a little sunning to opening. Cloth clean and bright. Pages clean throughout. Pamphlet clean.

Overall, a lovely, clean set albeit in a slightly shelf worn slipcase.
