Little Dorrit

Charles Dickens
Collins Clear-Type Press, [No Date] circa 1930s

A volume in Collins’ Library of Classics series; this copy with The Old Curiosity Shop branding (O.C.S.) to spine, and the shop bookplate loosely inserted.

The Old Curiosity Shop, self-styled as “Immortalised by Charles Dickens” was for many years a Dickens themed gift shop on Portsmouth Street in Holborn, London.

Limp card covers. Publisher’s brown cloth with silvered title and decoration to spine, silvered illustration and identification of the shop to front board; marbling effect endpapers. In a red-brown papered slipcase. 832pp with a b/w frontispiece. Size: 6 x 4.25 inches approx. (156mm x 108mm).

Slipcase showing some rubbing and shelf wear. Silvered title to spine a touch rubbed with loss. Pages tanned to edges, especially top edge of block, but generaly very clean throughout.

Overall, light wear but otherwise a particularly nice, clean copy – quite charming and unusual in this binding.
