Originally published by Harrap in 1935, with a reissue edition published in 1978. This copy being the book club version of the Harrap reissue and, apart from the imprint, is otherwise identical to that edition.
Hardback in a dustwrapper. Black cloth spine with title in orange, over grey paper boards with title and decoration in black to upper board; illustrated endpapers. 318pp including b/w illustrations within the text, plus 17 b/w full page illustrations and 12 colour plates. Size: 10.25 x 7.25 inches approx. (261mm x 185mm).
Dustwrapper sunned to spine, minor rubbing and wear to extremities. A little discolouration to upper margin of boards, otherwise spine and boards clean and bright. A touch dusty to top edge of page-block but otherwise pages are very clean throughout.
Overall, dustwrapper sunned but otherwise a particularly fresh and clean copy – quite lovely.
