Tales of Mystery & Imagination

by Edgar Allan Poe, illustrated by Arthur Rackham
London: Book Club Associates by arrangement with George G. Harrap & Co. Ltd, 1979

Originally published by Harrap in 1935, with a reissue edition published in 1978. This copy being the book club version of the Harrap reissue and, apart from the imprint, is otherwise identical to that edition.

Hardback in a dustwrapper. Black cloth spine with title in orange, over grey paper boards with title and decoration in black to front; illustrated endpapers. 318pp including b/w illustrations within the text, plus 17 b/w full page illustrations and 12 colour plates. Size: 10.25 x 7.25 inches approx. (261mm x 186mm).

Dustwrapper lightly rubbed and worn to spine ends and corner tips; short closed tear to lower edge of front panel; minor edge creasing and wear. Boards with slight discolouration to upper and lower margins. Occasional dusty fingerprint or mark but pages generally very clean throughout; top edge of page-block dusty.

These reissues (Harrap, and the Book Club Associates edition) are often found in a tatty dustwrapper with a sunned spine – this copy with strong colour to spine.

Overall, a particularly nice, clean copy – lovely indeed.
