Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám

translated into English Verse by Edward Fitzgerald
with photographs by Adelaide Hanscom and Blanche Cumming
London: George G. Harrap & Co., [1914]

The Adelaide Hanscom/Blanche Cumming illustrated edition with twenty-eight black & white plates was originally published 1905 in New York by Dodge Publishing, the UK edition following in 1908 from George Harrap. In 1912 Dodge published an edition with the plates being coloured, the UK Harrap edition coming in 1914.

Hardback. Publisher’s cloth with gilt titles and decoration to spine and front board; page-block with top-edge-gilt. [160]pp with 28 colour plates. Size: 10.5 x 8 inches approx. (265mm x 204mm).

Cloth rubbed and scratched, especially to rear board; some wear to extremities; a few grubby marks or stains. A gift inscription in ink to front free endpaper (usefully dated 1914), with a patch of light rubbing to upper corner; dampstain to upper margin of first blank page; some foxing and dustiness throughout especially to tissue guards but generally pages are clean; occasional rough cut to page fore-edge.

Nonetheless, remains a nice, clean copy in presentable condition.
