The Thief of Bagdad

Achmed Abdullah
London: The Readers Library Publishing Company Ltd, circa 1925

The Readers Library published affordable editions of popular fiction in the period 1924-35, cheaply produced but very attractive with their wrap-round dustwrapper artwork.

A film tie-in of ‘The Thief of Bagdad” (United Artists, 1924), directed by Raoul Walsh and starring Douglas Fairbanks and Julanne Johnston.

Hardback in dustwrapper. 252pp. Size: 6.75 x 4.25 inches approx. (170mm x 105mm).

Dustwrapper a little torn and creased to head of spine; rubbing to spine and front flap fold with some surface loss, especially to spine; a little marked to verso with printing ink, either bleed through or from other dustwrappers during printing. Light shelf wear to boards and spine, gilt dulled to spine. Pages age toned and with the occasional mark or stain but generally clean throughout.

Overall, showing some wear to dustwrapper but otherwise a nice, clean copy – presenting well.
