Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There

by Lewis Carroll, illustrations by John Tenniel
Macmillan Children’s Books, facsimile edition 1984

A facsimile reprint of the 1872 [1871] first edition.

Macmillan Children’s Books published facsimile editions of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and each were available in both cloth and leather bindings, the latter now somewhat more uncommon to find.

Hardback. Publisher’s full red leather binding with title in gilt to spine and gilt decoration to boards, page-block with all edges gilt, dark green endpapers. pp. [12], 224, [3], [1] colophon, including b/w illustrations. Size: 7.25 x 5.25 inches approx. (188mm x 132mm).

Gilt to edges of page-block slightly scratched and rubbed in places.

Overall, a nice, clean copy of the leather edition – quite lovely – and comes with original cellophane wrap (not pictured) which has kept the leather clean and bright.
