Folklore, Myths and Legends of Britain
Reader’s Digest Association Limited, 1st edition 1973
A comprehensive look at the folklore and legends of Britain with good coverage of the places of interest. A popular book in it’s day and still highly regarded.
Note: Originally published in 1973 and with a second edition appearing in 1977, copies were available primarily through The Reader’s Digest via their mail order and were supplied without a dustwrapper. However, copies were also distributed and sold through bookshops, and these were supplied with a dustwrapper bearing the Hodder and Stoughton imprint.
A promotional leaflet loosely inserted.
Hardback. Black cloth boards with gilt design and title to front; gilt title to spine. 552pp including b/w and colour illustrations. In a Hodder and Stoughton dustwrapper priced £6.50 to upper corner of front flap; ISBN 0340165979 printed to lower margin of rear flap. Size: 11.25 x 6.75 inches approx. (287mm x 171mm).
Dustwrapper chipped and worn to extremities, creased to front flap; dustwrapper now in a removable paper-backed cellophane sleeve. Cloth a little dusty and marked in places; spine a little worn and marked. A small stain to fore-edge of page-block with some encroachment onto page margins but generally pages clean throughout.
Overall, showing light wear commensurate with age and handling otherwise remaining a nice, clean copy.
