The first impression of the fourth edition of the Inclusive Edition was published 1933; this copy being the first reprint.

Hardback. Publisher’s full red leather binding with gilt title to spine and upper board; blind rules to outer margins of spine and boards; marbled effect endpapers; gilt to top edge of page-block. In a dustwrapper with black titles to spine and upper panel; priced to lower corner of front flap and stating LIBRARY EDITION | LEATHER | 35/- NET . pp [i-iv], v-xviii, 1-820 [821], [3] blank, plus b/w portrait frontispiece. Size: 9 x 6 inches approx. (227mm x 154mm).

Dustwrapper rubbed and worn to extremities, with small loss; faded to spine; somewhat grubby. Leather binding nice and clean, the dustwrapper having done its job well. Presentation letter* pasted to front paste-down; recipient’s name in ink to upper corner of front free endpaper; foxing to preliminairies and final few pages, some grubbiness and occasional mark but otherwise generally clean throughout; spotting, age-tanning and grubbiness to fore-edge and bottom edge of page-block.

*Book presented to a Mr. Ronald Gilling in November 1936 by staff of the Public Health Department, Hyde.

Overall, showing some wear commensurate with age and handling but otherwise a nice copy – a handsome binding indeed.
