Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
by Lewis Carroll, illustrations by John Tenniel
Macmillan London Limited, People’s Edition reprint 1973
This children’s classic and perennial favourite was originally published 1866 [1865], the People’s Edition* being first published 1877 with many subsequent printings. This copy a 1973 reprint of the 1949 People’s Edition.
Hardback. Publisher’s green boards with title in black to spine and front board; illustrated to front board in black and red, publisher’s emblem to rear board. In a dustwrapper. pp [12], [1]-177, [179], including b/w illustrations. Size: 7.5 x 5 inches approx. (192mm x 128mm).
Dustwrapper with light wear to extremities; some age tanning. Boards with light sunning to bottom edge otherwise very clean; lightly knocked to lower corners. Light toning to page edges but generally very clean throughout.
The red dustwrapper issued on the 1960s/70s People’s Edition is very susceptible to spine fading, this copy being a very nice example.
Overall, light wear but otherwise a particularly nice, clean copy quite lovely.
