The Readers Library published affordable editions of popular fiction in the period 1924-35, cheaply produced but very attractive with their wrap-round dustwrapper artwork.
Illustrated with scenes from the Fox produced film ‘Captain Lash’ (1929) starring Victor McLaglen, Claire Windsor and Jane Winton.
Hardback in dustwrapper. pp 187, [3] publisher’s adverts, plus 8 pages of b/w plates. 6.5 x 4.25 inches approx. (170mm x 108mm).
Dustwrapper rubbed and worn, especially spine ends and corner tips; light sunning to spine; foxed and lightly stained to verso; printing ink bleed through to rear panel verso. Boards and spine a little rubbed and worn; spine gilt dulled. Pages age tanned throughout but otherwise generally clean; cockling to plate pages; pages very tightly bound either side of plates.
Nonetheless, remaining a reasonably nice, clean copy – attractive in its dustwrapper.
