A comprehensive compendium of stories for children, profusely illustrated in black & white throughout – “over 450 illustrations by well-known artists”. Mostly unidentified however credits include D. Hardback. Publisher’s blue cloth with gilt title to spine and embossed design to spine and front board, in an illustrated dustwrapper. 768pp including b/w illustrations plus colour plates. Size: 10 x 7.25 inches approx. (258mm x 182mm).
Dustwrapper showing some light wear and rubbing, with slight loss to top edge of rear panel and head of spine; a few short tears to top and bottom edges; sunned/faded to spine and top edge of front and rear panels; a touch grubby/dusty in places. Boards and spine a little marked in places but otherwise clean and bright. Ink inscription to half-title verso and ink transference to facing page; spotting/foxing to edges of page-block otherwise pages generally clean throughout.
Overall, showing some light wear but otherwise a particularly nice, clean copy. Not an uncommon book however seldom found complete with its attractive dustwrapper.
