Through the Looking-Glass – And What Alice Found There
by Lewis Carroll, illustrated by John Tenniel
Macmillan and Company Limited, 1955
Never as popular as Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland but still worthy of being a children’s classic. Originally published in 1872 [1871], this copy being a 1955 printing of the 1887 People’s Edition.
Hardback. Publisher’s olive-green cloth with title to spine and front board; illustrated to front board in black and red, publisher’s emblem to rear board. In a price-clipped dustwrapper. pp [12], 211, [1] colophon, including b/w illustrations. Size: 7.25 x 5 inches approx. (189mm x 130mm).
Dustwrapper sunned and darkened to spine; light wear and rubbing to extremities; a touch dusty and marked in places. Cloth clean and bright. Light offsetting to endpapers; occasional dustiness but generally pages clean throughout.
Overall, light wear but otherwise a particularly nice, clean copy – uncommon with such a nice dustwrapper.
