Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
Lewis Carroll
Hodder and Stoughton Children’s Books, 1982
The Gwynedd M. Hudson (poster artist & illustrator, fl. 1910-1935)†illustrated edition of Alice in Wonderland was originally published 1922 by Hodder and Stoughton; this copy published 1982 and is a near facsimile reprint of the 1922 edition (Carroll’s name correctly spelled to title page, plain endpapers rather than illustrated). Illustrated throughout with orange/black figures and decoration within the text, plus twelve colour plates.
Hardback. Publisher’s red papered faux-cloth boards with gilt titles and gilt/black illustrations to spine and front board; plain red endpapers. pp [10], 181, including two-tone illustrations plus colour plates. Size: 10 x 7.25 inches approx. (250mm x 185mm).
Covers lightly sunned, especially to front board and spine; light wear to extemities. Pages age-toned but otherwise generally clean throughout; edges of page-block dusty, tanned and spotted with some occasional encroachment onto page margins.
Overall, light wear but otherwise a nice, clean copy – lovely.
