The Randolph Caldecot illustrated edition of Old Christmas was first published in 1876, this copy an 1882 fourth edition.

Hardback. Publisher’s green cloth with gilt decoration to spine and front board; all edges gilt to page-block; dark-brown endpapers; pale-blue tinted title page with tissue guard. pp xiv, [2], 165, [1] colophon, including b/w illustrations plus b/w frontispiece and seven plates. Size: 7.5 x 5 inches approx. (188mm x 127mm).
Cloth a little marked and stained to rear board, some bubbling; boards a touch knocked to corners and top edge of rear board; spine ends a touch pulled/turned-in. Inner hinges cracked, especially front, but still holding firm; spotting and dustiness to preliminaries and last pages; an ownership inscription in ink; pages dusty and marked in places, occasional pencil mark and corner crease, but generally appear reasonably clean throughout; page-block cocked and a little shaken.
Nonetheless, remaining a reasonably nice copy – very attractive with its ornate gilt design.
